Beaches and Island
Riau's idyllic beaches are located on the Riau Archipelago, in the East Coast of the Riau Province. The archopelago part of the province consists of 3214 island (743 of which are unnamed)
There are excursions to beautiful beaches, nearby island, and fishing villages. Snorkeling, swimming, water-skiing, boating, scuba diving, and trips to offshore island are just some of the things that await visitors at this seaside vacation area.
Golf
Riau's golf courses are some of the best-designed courses in the world. Pekanbaru, Minas, Dumai, Duri and especially batam and Bintan, are reputed to have the largest number and most challanging golf courses in the province.
Flora and fauna
Fauna is reputed to have largest number of tropical rainforest in the world. It is home to an extraordinary array of flora and fauna.
Mainland Riau covers an area of nearby 94,562 square kilometers, about 70 percent of which is covered with forest.
Architecture
Distinctive Riau Malay architecture is everywhere. It is particularly expressed in the shapes of roofs and elaborate carvings on various houses and building. Look for them, particularly in Pekanbaru and in other cities of the province.
Traditional Villages
The Riau Province is home to mixture of different ethnic and linguistic groups : Indonesia, Malay, Chines, Java, Batak, Minang, Bugis and Banjar. Traditionally, each borrowed building techniques and architectural from the others. Along the river in Riau mainland, there are numbers of villages or kampung, which have been built in stilts abouve the edge of rhe river's surface. In the same way, many of the homes and communities if the Riau islanders also stand on stilts above the surface of the shoreline.
Water Sports
Being a tropical island,most of the resort style hotels offer a variety of sports facilities including water-skiing, wind-suffering, sailing, speed boats, parasailing, fishing, snorkeling, and even diving.
