The regency of Bengkalis is situated in the eastern coast of Sumatera some of its waterways is part of Malacca Straits. Nearly 95% of its topography are lowlands with tropical forests.

Bengkalis land is full of palm plantation areas and together with Siak Regency, widely known as one of the biggest natural oil producing areas in Indonesia, so that it is frequently dubbed as an area yielding oil both from the surface and the underground.
